Episode 60: Part 2 of interview with Dr. Stephen Cunnane

Picking up where Dr. Cunnane left off in part one, we get into other aspects of ketones and what we know about them specifically, brain health, and how the brain’s ability to use ketones as a fuel does not diminish with age. Rather, it is our ability to use glucose as a fuel decreases. Due to the decreasing effectiveness of the insulin to get the glucose into the brain. Sometimes referred to as insulin resistance. The great news is ketones are not a problem and they are available. We talk about MCT Oils in general, and specifically.
Also the production of GABA and it’s effect of calming the hyperexcitable states of certain neurologic conditions like Epilepsy but also Alzheimers.  Stephen Talks about the similarities between Alzheimers and Epilepsy and why some epilepsy medications help Alzheimers. I hope you enjoy listening to Dr. Cunnane as much as I did talking with him.
