Slow Cooked Ribs – Keto/Low Carb Friendly

I love ribs cooked slowly – I have adapted an old recipe to be keto friendly.   I use a sugar free rub mix and BBQ sauce.

I used to make these in the oven, but I now have an electric smoker, so I slow cook them in the smoker rather than the oven.  Both ways taste amazing!

First, I mixed together the spices for the rub

Rub Mix:

1/4 cup sweet or hot paprika

2 TBS Kosher salt

1/4 cup chili powder

1 TBS + 1 tsp garlic powder

2 TBS ground cumin

1 TBS dry mustard powder

1 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)

Put the ribs on a baking sheet  (since I was smoking in my electric smoker, I had to cut them in half)

      

Coat both sides of the ribs with the rub mix – you will have rub mix left over for another use.

   

 

Set oven or smoker to 250 degrees F.

bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours

about 1/2 hour before the ribs are done, coat with BBQ Sauce

I like to slice into individual ribs before serving
