Nobody thinks iron has anything to do with insulin resistance
|
Hey Reader, Dr Karl here. Nobody thinks iron has anything to do with insulin resistance. Nobody pairs iron with insulin resistance. There is no reason to, if you are reading labs one at a time. Here is what her iron and ferritin did across four years while she was busy fixing her insulin. Iron went from 105 down to 85. Twenty points, downward, which on its own looks like the wrong direction. Ferritin went from 160 up to 288. Ferritin is storage. It is what she calls on if iron ever runs low. Now plot iron against ferritin, split by insulin resistance, and put her dot on it.
Four years ago she sat on the insulin resistant curve. Today she sits on the non insulin resistant curve. Not near it. On it. Her dot moved from one pattern to the other, and it did that without anyone treating her iron. Same thing with folate. Her RBC folate came up from 647. And here is a detail worth more than the headline: it did not climb in a straight line. It went up to 1427, which is higher than she needed, and then settled back to around 1018. That is what the body does when you feed it what it was missing. It fills the tank, then finds its level. It is also why I do not chase a low number with four times the dose. One more, and this one is the cleanest result in the whole four years. Her CRP was 3.6 in year one. By year two it was 0.44 and it never went back up.
She did not take an anti-inflammatory. She dropped her insulin, dropped her glucose, and took off 14 pounds in that first year. The weight even came back a little afterward. The CRP did not follow it up. Inflammation collapsed and stayed collapsed. Nothing on her supplement list explains that. The pattern does. All three pairs are on screen from about ten minutes. >> WATCH: Your Doctor Is Using The Wrong Map. https://youtu.be/JDdowf1f2P8 To your health, Dr. Goldkamp Consider becoming a client

Three numbers your doctor called normal
Four pages on three pairs of numbers you have almost certainly had run already: glucose with insulin, triglycerides with HDL, homocysteine with B12 and folate. Read one at a time, each one comes back normal. Read as pairs, they say something else.
Or if you would rather talk it through, the 20-minute call is free. I will tell you on the call if this is not a fit.
